Lockdown Day 26

Hi!

Here's a trio of Rusty Robots that I've now got finished!

Mk1 Scrapbot, Forge Guard and Mk1 Scrapbot

I'm really pleased with how these little chaps have turned out and have a fourth just needing it's base finishing and two more base coated and waiting detailing which will give me my core warband.

The next step will be to sculpt up six robots for the next tribe, be it Black, Blue, White, Yellow or Green. After they are done, I'll try to get some specialists sorted out for each and then add more robots as I go!

Looking at my supplies, I realised I needed more greenstuff and I think at the rate I'm going, I'll need more bases soon as I seem to be blasting through lipped bases at quite a rate at present so I'm going to need to peruse ebay for more...

I've also given into temptation and placed a small order for World of Twilight and will post a review on the miniatures once they arrive so watch this space!

My next update will probably be covering more Shieldbash or possibly some denizens of the Witchlands for Deadloque so watch this space!

In the meantime, All the best!

  1. Today I had to place an order (greenstuff world) so I won't run out glue and sculpting materials at the worst moment, so gearing up is always a good idea.

I got a silicone mold that casts various types of rivets. I've been doing mine myself but there's interesting ones there like the nut and bolt combo. You should give it a look, might be useful for your project!

BTW those are really neat looking. I'd choose colours depending on how many tribes there will be, as the palette alters the look and feel for the setting: if it's just 3 tribes I'd go for red, white and black. For more tribe I'd use bright colours and would avoid b/w in the long run.

    1. Hi!

Thanks for the comments! I'll need to have a look as I tend to make my rivets from greenstuff that I cure in sausage shapes and then cut into sections as it sticks better than plasticard!

I have six tribes at the moment with complete background. Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, White and Black but have ideas for over a dozen more including colour combos. Each tribe looks different and plays differently too and I'll need to post some ore gubbins up for it with an introduction to the tribes of The Scrapyard!

  2. If you are curious about the rivet mold look their vid from 0:45 to 1:45 it will give you and idea of the ease of use and the convenient shape of the rivets.

I'm kissing green sausages and pvc rods goodbye!

  3. Brilliant design on those!
Would be nice to see more background pictures for your world ;).

I don't know if you've ever heard of Color Quest? But your idea kind of reminds me of a possible futuristic version of this game.

    1. I do vaguely remember it!

I'll need to take a bit of a peek through the interwebs though to refresh my memory!
