Stuff From the Leadpile 3

Hi!

Heres the latest figures I've painted from my leadpile, some Four A Miniatures:

 Barbarians

Flesh Golem

I've really enjoyed painting them as they have very different types of sculpting, the barbarians have lots of fine detail that results in an interesting model to paint while the flesh golem is lovely and chunky which made for a joy to paint!

In other news I have rummaged out my painted figure collection dating back several years. Sadly its been rather poorly handled and they have all fallen out of their protective pockets and I found them piled up, chipped and broken at the bottom of the box. After some wailing and gnashing of teeth, I have set about repairing the damage and finally varnishing them so they won't suffer the same fate in future!

Heres the first couple from the collection:

Grenadier Barbarian (now available from Em4 Miniatures)

The Barbarian was painted up a few years back for a Nuclear Renaissance project that never materialised but he works quite well across genres as he will see action in both Sci-fi and Fantasy gaming!

Old Citadel Hobgoblin

Next up theres an old Hobgoblin from Citadel. He's a lovely little figure but I need to rebase him with a lipped base so he fits in with the rest of my collection. I do like the style of him and will be keeping my eye out for any more so I can round out a warband of them at some point!

I've also got a pile more, mostly Chronopia figures sitting on the paint table for touching up and rebasing so will post pictures of them once I get chance!

Looking at my collection I have found that I have a pretty decent force of Sons of Kronos for Chronopia so hope to be able to round out the force at some point as at present I have a unit of Hearthguard and some Viridian Lords but want to get some normal tribesmen and cavalry choices. Fortunately I have some more Grenadier barbarians kicking around and combined with my previously painted Four A and Grenadier barbarians I have just about all I need!

Hopefully I will get chance to add some more pictures today of some Crystal Lotus Elves and possibly more!

All the best!

Goblin Re-enforcements!

Hi!

Heres a couple of pics of the latest addition to my Goblin Warband, the Antioch:

Antioch

He's a bit of a hodgepodge of bits ranging from a rat ogres body to a trollbloods legs and a beast of slaanesh's head. Gamewise he counts as a troll but I quite like his unusual appearance!

The Antioch's are a semi-intelligent species that live in the high plains bordering the Axeblade mountains. They are generally peaceful creatures who live on ants and termites, using their powerful claws to break into the insects mounds and long sticky tongues to consume their tiny prey.

This poor creature has been liberated from an Orcish fighting pit by its Goblin masters and now acts as the chieftains bodyguard, pack animal and much loved pet. He still bears terrible scars from the pit where he was driven to fight other creatures for the Orcs crude entertainment.

Heres a pic of the full group so far:

Goblin Warband Progress

Its been an interesting model to build but turned out quite nicely. Alas its going to be the last figure I paint for a while as I am off tomorrow for more than two weeks so updates may be a little sparse here till I get back!

Monstrous Denizens

Hi!

Just a quick update with some new beast for my forces to do battle with!

Firstly theres a wild Earth Elemental:

Wild Earth Elemental

Secondly theres a giant rat!

A Lone Orc Faces the Giant Rat!

Background wise, Aeroth is a shattered realm where wild magic has run amok which sometimes results in Eathpower forming untamed elementals, such as the earth elemental here which often occupy mountains and cause trouble for the nearby inhabitants.

Another side effect of wild magic has been the mutation of previously existing creatures, such as the rat. Huge packs of them have been found in some of the Dwarf Holds, devouring stores at a voracious rate and now spreading throughout the labyrinthine passageways. These swarms, often many hundred strong have been reported devouring entire Dwarven families.

I hope to get hold of some more rats soon so I can unleash a horde of the foul creatures as part of a Boar Company dungeon delve as they are recruited to destroy these foul vermin!

All the best!

Miscellaneous Monsters!

Hi!

Heres the latest additions to my 15mm scale collection!

Giant Earth Elemental

Cave Dwellers

The Elemental is a Gromiti figure I repainted and will make for an interesting giant creature to menace just about everything else in the Axebite Mountains as its huge!

The Cave Dwellers are my sculpts and will soon be added to so they form a nice little clan. I do notice that the paint I used has got a little lumpy when I painted them but its not too noticeable...

All the best!

Creepy Cave Dwellers!

Hi!

I've been a bit busy with university stuff over the last day or two but have managed to sculpt up a couple of creepy cave denizens:

Cave Dwellers!

They took very little time to make and aren't the most amazing sculpts ever but do have quite a bit of character! I will be trying to paint them up over the course of today!

In other news my degree show is coming up and we are in desperate need of donations to fund it! We have a donations page set HERE so if you folks could take a peek at it and if possible donate a pound or two would be fantastic!

All the best!

A Dragon! Sort of...

Hi!

I picked this chap up from Tescos for 99p yesterday:

Gronckyle Menaces An Unsuspecting Dwarven Hunter

Its one of the How To Train Your Dragon toys but I think he's just about perfect for 15mm scale gaming. He would also make a good mount for orc or goblin flyers...

Theres a couple of small bits needing filled but his paint job is surprisingly good, in fact I only need to define his teeth a bit and give him a more intimidating set of eyes and he's ready to go.

In fact I am so inspired I will be putting him into action against my Boar Company this weekend in a game of Song Of Blades!

There are several others available in the range but none were in my local store. I am sorely tempted to pick up a couple more if I see them though as they make rather unusual additions to the world of Aeroth and have the visual aesthetic of the Orc warbeasts from Leviathan (ie big and chunky!)

All the best!

Dwarven Keeper Completed!

Hi!

Just a quick update on progress so far!

Heres a picture of my completed dwarven Boar Company Wildling keeper:

Wildling Keeper

I've posed him next to a piece of terrain I have had kicking around for years in an uninspiring grey but repainted to a slightly more interesting sandstone colour! Its originally from the OLMEC RUINS set from SCOTIA GRENDEL but works rather nicely as some sort of buried piece of gigantic statuary!

I have also completed some random beasts to accompany my rogue sorcerer in the form of a pair of giant bats. Originally from Games Workshops Warhammer Quest box, they too have been languishing in the bottom of my bits box for years. I removed the large plastic flight stand and poked a bit of a hole in them to add the thin wire that is a bit less obtrusive:

Sorcerers Giant Bats!

Apologies for the slightly blurry picture but I cant seem to get a decent shot of them!

In other news I have been busily beavering away with the sculpting malarky and have got the bottom half of my Wildling done. Alas no pictures as yet but he is taking shape rather nicely! I have also got several orcs started but am not too happy with them as they are a tad on the wide side so may be given a slight re-design as minions of my sorcerer!

Theres also a load of scenery sitting undercoated and just awaiting the pva on their bases to dry before I get on with painting them!

Hopefully I will get some more bits and bobs finished over the course of the weekend before uni starts in earnest!

All the best!
