Spacecow's Yearly Roundup

Whee!

Well its been a busy old year here with all sorts of shenanigans with work and hobby but I thought I would have a bit of a perusal of the highs and lows of my hobby year.

For the first time in living memory, I seem to have got myself a decent man cave but still need to get myself a decent gaming table put together and the new year will hopefully see this come to some sort of fruition!

Miniature wise, I seem to have been pulled in several directions at once, earlier in the year I spent rather a lot of time painting up some 28mm scale warbands for Rogue Trader:

 Catachans

I must admit that although this project has kind of stalled, I really want to continue with it in the new year as its been a cracking opportunity to paint my way through my leadpile. The ongoing plan is to build a dozen or so warbands for a Necromunda/Rogue Trader type campaign based in my reimagined Imperium.

Bloodaxe Askaris

Hopefully the coming year will see the warbands expand to a dozen or so figures each along with a couple of vehicles and cover all the main races in the Imperium from Eldar to Tyranids and more beside.

 Planetary Defence Force

I have really been enjoying painting up the oldish school metal and converting all sorts of gubbins and I still have a few more fun bits and bobs to work through. Who knows, maybe I may even manage to get a game or two in while I am at it. The problem is that the more I paint, the more I want to pick up for some of the other great old games out there ranging from Void to Vor, Kryomek to Warzone!

 Goff Warband

Its a bit of a bind but at the same time it has got me thinking of some of the great figures I've had over the years and flogged off during my many house moves and one of my new years resolutions is to source replacements for them and get them painted. Its possibly going to take me quite a long time for some of them but I do think its going to be well worth the effort. I do also want to have a bit of a peruse of some of the newer ranges out there to supplement some of my existing forces as there's some really very tempting gubbins to be had too...

Space Pirates

I do seem to be concentrating on sci-fi in the 28mm scale but I must admit that fantasy just isn't appealing to me at present so will just keep cracking on with what I am enjoying doing and a handy byproduct is that I am getting myself some rather fun little warbands!

Miscellaneous Characters

Now its not all 28mm fun in Richard's hobby time. I have also been creating some similar warbands in 15mm scale too!

 Lucius Goldburg, Crimelord

While the 28mm scale stuff is getting done more from a collecting standpoint, my 15mm scale stuff is totally intended for gaming purposes. While the scale doesn't lend itself to quite the same amount of detail and character as the larger scale, it is handy for creating quick and fun forces on a very limited budget.

 Mollusc Freedom Alliance!

I fully intend to start some regular games with my ever expanding little forces and play out a campaign over the course of 2015 which hopefully will see all kinds of skirmishes with assorted Imperial, Rebel and Xenos factions battling it out all over the Farpoint Sector!

Capitol Light Infantry

Speaking of which, I have been beavering away with some sculpts in 15mm scale which are nearing completion and will be getting auctioned off in the new year too and I will also be working on an ongoing series of articles for my reimagined Imperium project to keep things interesting.

 Farpoint Salvage

Sadly there are a few glaring gaps in the 15mm scale market for the classic 40k races so I will be working on a few conversions and sculpts of my own to represent stuff like Eldar and so on but in the meantime I will continue building the assorted forces I have at my disposal and adding the odd little bits and bobs as I go.

 Ork Warband

Another of my challenges in the new year will be to collect and convert forces for each of the classic Warzone factions so I can relive the glory days of 1st edition Warzone and play out some corporate action in the solar system against each other and the dread forces of the Dark Legion!
 Squat Troopers

While much of my efforts have been concentrated on 15mm sci-fi, I have had a couple of fantasy forces pootling along too. One of which is my Tale of Several Gamers challenge Dwarven army which I really want to get finished!

 Dwarves

I have a cunning plan to provide myself with quite a few steamtanks and wargolems to flesh out the force as well as getting some more variety to the existing infantry I have but thats for another day!

Slann

The other force I worked on earlier in the year was my 15mm scale Slann warband. Its kind of stalled at present but I do want to finish off the little chaps and maybe even round out the force a bit too.

Squats!

Moving Down the scales, I still have a bunch of epic goodness sat needing painting up which I want to spend a bit of time sorting them out as well. I doubt they will see much action but who knows, they could be handy for representing somewhat larger scale confrontations.

 Eldar

There's plenty to paint up and I have to admit that this is a bit of a back burner project but I will be plugging away with the little chaps as I do love the look of the classic Epic stuff and I do just happen to have a fair pile of miniatures to paint up...

Ultramarines

As you can see, I have got a fair amount of bits and pieces done this year and have plans to keep it up in the year to come but I also have one or two other little side projects that I do want to push forward with in the coming year as well.

 Aeronef

Firstly, a couple of years back, I painted up a couple of Aeronef by Brigade Models and I still have a decent flotilla in need of a lick of paint. Sadly my painted ships have sadly been hard done by in the move of house so thy will be given a bit of a stripping in preparation for a fresh coat of paint and re-rigged to add an extra bit of detail too.

Fighter Scale!

Lastly, there is my fighter scale project to take a bit of a fresh look at too!

As you can see I have plenty to be cracking on with in 2015 and hopefully I will finally manage to fully deplete my leadpile, get a gaming table sorted out and actually play some games too but in the meantime, I hope you have all had a great Christmas and thanks for taking the time to read and follow my ramblings!
All the best!

Silent Running...

Hi!

Well its been a week since my last post and alas there's been a decided lack of hobby time. As previously mentioned, the man cave is out of action at present but a combination of mental work and long commuting has really knocked the stuffing out of me!

I have been doing a little bit of sculpting here and there but unfortunately there's nothing quite finished yet. I have a suspicion that my Tale of Several Gamers Dwarves are going to suffer a similar lack of attention as the silly season continues and upcoming visits from our collective families but I do hope to crack on with them when I get chance.

In the meantime, I will try to keep posting the occasional State of the Imperium article as well as some background gubbins for my alternative Imperium but in the meantime, all the best!

Ork Squad and an Angry Ape!

Hi!

I've currently got the contents of our workroom in my mancave as we sort the place out so painting time has been somewhat curtailed as we get to the onerous task of tidying up! Still I did manage to finish off a squad of Orks that I sculpted up for 15mm.co.uk a few years back. I slightly converted the Nob but the others are unaltered and I'm quite pleased with how they turned out.

 Waargh!

Unfortunately, these are just about the last Orks I have in the house so I will have to see about sculpting up a few more. If there's enough interest in getting them cast, I will put the sculpts up for sale...

Next up, there's an old Irregular Armies giant Ape. The original sculpt is a bit iffy so I added a load of pelt to its shoulders and arms to bulk it up a bit and add a horn in homage to the old Star Trek monster!

Game wise, he is going to be a pet of Lucius Goldburg and has been modified with a control circuit by the crimelords xenos medico. To top it off, he has also been equipped with a frenzon dispencer to make him properly furious in combat!

All the best!

Enemies of the Imperium Part 2

Hi!

I thought it was long past time to actually update my ongoing ramblings about my reimagined Imperium so will spend a bit of time waffling about a few more of the threats that face the Imperium in the 45th Millenium!

Eldar Pirates

The Great Harlequin has reunited the disparate elements of the Eldar race, the Craftworld, Dark and Exodites and forged a new, powerful and unified society that seeks to reclaim its ancient holdings, much of which are now in the hands of the Imperium.

Eldar Pirate Raid

While the reformed Eldar are still too few in number to take on the Imperium in a straight fight, they have excelled in lightning raids, strategic invasions and commerce raiding. At the forefront of this effort are the Eldar Pirates. Formed from the adventurous, out of favour or somewhat deranged of Eldar society, they range in size from single ships to powerful fleets of graceful, yet deadly vessels.
eldar fleet.

Eldar Warship

While seemingly operating independently, these freebooters are actually under the command of the great seer council of the Eldar who seek to interrupt the movement of trade and vital supplies throughout the Imperium, weakening it to the point of collapse. Thus far, the Imperial navy seems unaware of the spate of seemingly random attacks on shipping actually form a complex web aimed at dealing a crippling blow to the Imperium as pirate raids seem to hit everything from merchant convoys to agriworlds and even the odd strike at the navy itself. No matter how rapidly the Imperium reacts, the agile Eldar ships seem to dance out of range and vanish before full retribution can be taken on the haughty pirates.

Every ships crew looks different, some wear elaborate or exotic gear, others grim and forbidding uniform while some, usually the Dark Eldar, indulge in scarification and body modification to terrify their foes. It is this sense of freedom and lack of strict Eldar codes of conduct that draw many dreamers and malcontents to join up and the pirates aren't too fussy about only recruiting from within their own race as many unusual xenos species with a grudge against the Imperium or a sense of adventure also make up a sizable proportion of the ranks.

Pirate activity in the Farpoint sector has been growing and several ships have gone missing under mysterious circumstances in the past six months and Governor General Van Dorn has requested the Imperial Navy to increase its patrols. Rumour has it that the previous governor, Alexandr Vosk has been trading with the outlaws in secret in hopes of discrediting his successor and allowing him to retake the lucrative position of Governor.

Hopefully that will give folks a bit of an idea as to what the Eldar Pirates are up to and the eagle eyed may have spotted that I have begun adding new pages to the blog here with background and so on of the forces of the new Imperium and those they fight against. I am also hoping to add some bios of the assorted characters such as the Empress's Attack Dog, Governor General Laars Van Dorn, his nemesis Alexandr Vosk and lots more over the coming week or two as well!

All the best!

Warband Building

Hi!

Well its getting towards the silly season at work and to make matters worse, I've been struck down with man flu over the last few days which has made doing pretty much anything done all but impossible!

I have managed to get some pics taken of my Dwarves for the Tale of Several Gamers challenge but will wait till tomorrow to post them up but have been slowly working through a few more bits and bobs from my lead pile and thought I'd take a few quick shots of some of my warbands that I have been developing for a while.

In my revised Imperium, technology hasn't stagnated like it has in the current GW fluff so I have plenty of scope to keep developing forces that are somewhat more high tech and interesting.

Farpoint Salvage

As things stand, my most complete force is my freelance salvage team, Farpoint Salvage. With a mixture of techs, gunmen and even a combat cyborg, they are a rather mixed bunch but make for an interesting and eclectic lot.

Formed from a retired squad of Viridian commandoes, Farpoint Salvage excels at recovering lostech from hostile environments and if rumor is to be believed, the occasional unofficial government contract on the QT. I hope to flesh the organisation out a little so I can have a couple more gunmen and some more droids and even a few hostile environment suits!

Next up, there's my Goff warband!

Waaagh!

I now have a dozen or so 15mm scale Orks but need quite a few more to get a decent sized warband put together (I plan on using the force generator rules from Ere We Go to generate their weapons and equipment!) I also need to sculpt up a Mekboy, Painboy, Weirdboy, Runtherd and maybe a few more boyz too. The vehicle is also in need of a fresh coat of paint and some assorted gubbins to give it a suitably ramshackle appearance...

A quick update on them as I have just finished a squad of bolter armed Orks led by a Nob but really want to bulk their numbers up to at least 10-15 for a proper mob!

Hopefully I will get some more pics taken for this weekend of the latest additions as well as a few more warbands in construction as I have a good half dozen little forces underway that are starting to look half decent such as the Mo.F.A and the notorious crimelord Lucius Goldburg!

All the best!

15mm Scale Reinforcements!

Hi!

Well I've spent my day painting some 15mm scale gubbins in an attempt to clear up my paint desk a bit which was becoming a bit cramped with lots of primed but otherwise unpainted figures.

First up there's one of the Orks that I sculpted for 15mm.co.uk a couple of years back:

To be honest, the sculpt quality is a tad on the rough side but he will do as a nameless henchmen for my Goff warband:

Nobs and Warboss!

As you can see, the newer sculpts are rather a lot more polished looking but as Orks are supposed to be rough and ready, I figure he will do for the moment. I have another dozen or so to paint up as well as a vehicle or two so I should have a nice little warband ready to shoot up the minions of the Imperium once I get them all done.

Next up, there's a las cannon toting heavy for my Farpoint Salvage crew and a couple of investigators:

Eat Laser!

Looking at the bases of the first two, I'd suggest that they are actually from my old Stainless Steel Rat project as I've not used such fine sand for ages but it does actually look good so maybe I need to do a bit of experimenting with different types to give a more suitably desert finish...

I also have a bunch of Dwarves painted up but they are being hoarded for my Tale of Several Gamers project so won't be getting pictures for the time being! Now these chaps are out the way, I think I might have a go at bulking out some of my existing forces, including my Warzone goodies and may even be tempted to have a bash at creating some suitably chunky Space Marines...

Ah well, we shall see but its good to be getting on with some painting and my leadpile is actually beginning to shrink!

All the best!

The Wilde Hunt and Lost Albion

Hi!

I've finally managed to scrape together enough spare time to finish painting something and even get a photo to boot!

Fae Woodsmen

After  a bit of head scratching, I settled on a couple of old Grenadier Elves to represent the first of my Fae for my post apocalyptic Britain project. Representing the Wilde Hunt, one of the several Fae groups that have taken over large areas of Albion.

The Fae have returned in all their terrible glory to Britain to reclaim their ancestral land and wrestle it from the Human usurpers who stole it from them in ancient times. With the use of a mighty spell, the Fae pulled apart the fabric of reality and brought an apocalypse. Wild magic blitzed through the country, levelling cities and awakening magical beings long thought to be nothing but folktales and 21st century Britain ceased to be.

In its place stands Lost Albion, a land where primordial forests grow over the shattered remnants of once great cities, bleak moors and misty mountains stand mute witness to the end of a civilisation and the return of the wild places to a once tamed country.

In the century since the Faes return, over 90 percent of the human population died from the famine and plagues that blighted the land or were killed by the ravages of the lands new rulers but people are adaptable and here and there, small settlements have held out and even thrive despite the loss of technology and fight to hold onto what they have from bands of marauding beast and other, darker creatures.

The spell had unexpected side effects, however, as rumours circulate that Arthur will return and both Fae and Humans seek him amongst the sylvan glades and dilapidated shanties that dot the countryside. To counter this, the Fae have sought out the remains of Mordred and seek to re-animate him to once again strike down his father.

Another unexpected effect was the Dead, great cities like London, Manchester and Birmingham saw entire populations killed in an instant and they rest poorly in the mass graves and shattered buildings. Now these crumbling ruins are dangerous indeed to enter as revenants, ghouls and other foul beasts haunt their shadowy streets.

Hopefully that gives a bit of flavour to what I am hoping to do over the coming months with the project which will see bits and bobs of post apocalyptic meets urban fantasy miniature malarky!

All the best!

Post Apocalyptic Gaming Anyone?

Hi!

Alas I've not had much chance to get any painting done over the last few days as I've been snowed under with my first week back at work but I have been thinking of trying something a bit different in the form of a bit of a post apocalyptic project!

Its not a genre I've really attempted before I must admit but its an interesting concept and I've seen some really striking and characterful forces and ideas on the wonders of the interwebs. With my usual flitting between projects and inability to paint up large forces, a post apocalyptic sort of setting could well be perfect!

Now on the one hand, there's the more usual post apocalyptic type setting as seen in Mad Max with road warriors and crazies battling it out over a desert landscape and entertainingly converted vehicles and satisfyingly 80s style mohawks.

Be it zombie plague, nuclear war or whatever, such a setting would be great fun and could well provide me with plenty of opportunities to really go to town with some unique warbands and their transports of delight, not to mention mutated gribblies caused by radioactive fallout or whatever to add a bit of interest to things.

On the other hand, theres a bit of a different direction that I've been pondering for some time with a more British sort of setting and involving a country not having been ravaged by anything as mundane as a nuclear attack or zombie outbreak but the return of magic to the land.

Imagine the Fae returning in all their terrible glory to reclaim their ancestral home. The cities have been devastated, the human inhabitants decimated and mighty forests springing up seemingly overnight?

I quite like the idea of trying out this option as its got some rather interesting forces but the downside being that theres probably not that many miniatures that would be suitable without a fair amount of conversion.

Maybe a simpler option would be for a combination of the two settings with the world being changed dramatically with humanity being vastly reduced in numbers and the wild retaking the world while the survivors fight it out over what remains. With a bit of work, it could be rather fun and would allow me to create some cracking warbands ranging from survivalists to muties, fae or whatever!

Hopefully I will get chance to add some more ponderings over the coming week as well as the next article in my revised Imperium series too...

Sneak Peek! Dwarves

Hi!

Just a quick update on the last day of my hols! I've managed to finish some test pieces for the Tale of Several Gamers Challenge and thought I'd give folks a sneak peek of progress thus far:

Bearded Ones!

They are all from Ral Partha Europes Demonworld range and are really beautiful little sculpts in a variety of armour and armed to the teeth. I've had them kicking around for quite a while and its nice to see them finally finished!

I've made the most of Ral Partha's free shipping Halloween offer to make a small order to round out the unit and will be having a peruse through the lead pile to see if I can find a few more to provide me with some more stunties!

All the best!

An Update at Last!

Hi!

Well I seem to be working through my painters block and have finally settled on a force to aim towards collecting and painting for the Tale of Several Gamers challenge!

The army will be Dwarvish and based on the work I did on the old Leviathan game several years back. The problem I had with it back in the day was that in order to play a decent game you needed at least an 8x4 foot board, tons of scenery and the patience to paint up some really big war machines and beasts.

The furthest I ever managed with my Dwarves for the game was about a dozen painted figures like these little chaps:

On the other hand, I really enjoyed working on my 15mm scale stuff and believe it will be an ideal opportunity to really get the project back into action and allow me to create some really interesting new rules, units and so on as I go which is a real plus and I must admit I am getting rather excited about the possibilities it presents!

Worry not though! While the majority of the force will be 15mm scale, I will be running a side project to create a warband for small skirmishes in 28mm scale which should allow me to sort through my assorted 28mm scale Dwarves I have in my bits box.

One of the really interesting things about the project will be the chance for me to finally create a properly post apocalyptic desert wasteland too which hopefully will give folks some inspiration for a chaos waste type of scenic madness!

While its not properly Oldhammer, it is a fantasy ruleset that is sadly under appreciated and all but forgotten and I have to admit that I have found myself rereading my old notes and ideas with a dangerous combination of nostalgia and fresh ideas!

In order for me to keep from getting bogged down with the project and facing another case of painting depression, I propose to do a bit of a side project here, continuing to flesh out my alternative Imperium setting and adding some new warbands to it in 15mm and 28mm scale too (I know its rather ambitious, especially with the run up to Christmas but what the hey!)

Hopefully I will have one or two bits and bobs to add over the next couple of days and will start the Tale of Several Gamers in the morning too!

All the best!

A Brick Wall Moment

Hi!

Well I'm back from my holidays and have finished my commissions so can finally have a go at organising myself for the upcoming Tale of Several Gamers challenge but have hit a bit of a snag.

Said snag is that once again I seem to have been hit with a case of painters block. I've started painting a few different miniatures from different scales, ranges and periods but none of them seem to be working out which in turn makes things worse!

More infuriatingly, I have also found that I just don't have anything I want to get my teeth stuck into for the challenge (don't get me wrong, theres lots of ideas ranging from a Giant warband to finally tackling a Leviathan or Chronopia or even Crucible themed army but none of them seem to be really appealing at the moment!)

Its not the first time I've found myself feeling a bit down on the hobby front but it is the first that I've had in a while that makes me want to just throw my hands up in defeat and pack it all away for a while!

I must admit that I've tried all my usual tricks and none of them seem to be working at present, mostly, I suspect, the problem is that I just don't have the miniatures I want to have a crack at and the expense of getting them together is proving prohibitive and rather daunting, especially when I am saving up for our wedding. I think I am going to have to have a bit of a sit down and think over the next couple of days before the challenge starts and see what I can come up with.

Its really rather annoying as prior to the start of my holiday, I had a solid plan with what I was wanting to do and how I was going to do it but it seems to have fallen somewhat flat and the new possibilities seem to be coming and going without properly taking root. I really want to complete a 28mm scale force but suspect that at most I would be able to settle with a small warband of a dozen or so figures which is perfect for skirmishing but not for mass battles which is a bit of a problem.

Unfortunately the painters block gets worse with every frustratingly botched figure and I don't think I've ever had more partially completed figures kicking around before which in turn makes me ever more loath to pick up a brush and either power through them or try something different to break the monotony. Once again I am finding my stress relieving hobby causing me stress which is really making me cross, especially as even a week ago, I was getting along with things fine...

On the plus side, it is making me put a good deal of thought into the challenge and what I want to do with my hobby more generally!

Hopefully I will get out of this funk soon and get back to business as usual!

All the best!

A Tale of Several Gamers Update!

Hi!

Well it looks like we may have a few folks interested in taking part in a bit of a relaxed challenge and I thought it may be fun to set up a separate blog for folks taking part in to post their own updates (not that posting them on their own blogs isn't absolutely fine but I figure it would be more like the original article that the challenge is based on!)

So without further ado, heres A TALE OF SEVERAL GAMERS!

If you are interested in joining in, please feel free to leave a comment here and I will get you set up on the blog itself with writing privileges.

Once we have everyone joined up, I will post the rules of the challenge up (check out the previous post for more information!) and we will start the challenge proper on the first of November!

A Tale of Several Gamers!

Hi!

Well it looks like there's a few folks interested in taking part in a Tale of Gamers challenge!

Now comes the tricky part of sorting out a set of guidelines to get us started. In the original series in White Dwarf, the challenge was to budget £25 a month with the aim of collecting and painting a new army a bit at a time.

Points were awarded for getting stuff painted with 5 points for getting everything painted in a month, 3 for getting some done and zero if you don't manage to get anything done.

If memory serves, points were also awarded for playing games 5 for a win, 3 for a draw and zero for a loss but as we are probably all over the country (if not world) this is probably not going to be practical!

With the new challenge, how about combining it with a bit of a lead mountain reduction too with points being awarded for painting stuff from your unpainted collection instead?

Extra points can also be awarded for detailing background for your army too which would encourage folks to develop some really imaginative warbands and characters!

So with all that out of the way, how about this for an outline:

The Budget!

Challengers can spend a maximum of £25 a month on their chosen force however by spending their budget they lose points!

Spend nothing! Only use figures from your lead pile. Minimum 5 figures.
5 points
Spend half your budget:
3 points
Spend your entire budget:
0 points

The Painting!
Paint everything you have bought or culled from your stash:
5 points
Paint some of the figures:
2 points
Paint nothing:
0 points

The Background!
Post an article on your warband, be it background, character description or whatever on your blog
1 Point per article, maximum of five.

Misc!

Play a game using the warband you are building
5 points per game.
Create a suitable piece of scenic madness themed for their warband:
1 point per piece (maximum 5)

How does that sound? It gives incentive to folks to collect and paint an army, cull their lead mountains, develop an interesting background for their force and blog about it and even play some games!

Time scale wise, how does 6 months sound? It should give folks time to develop a decent sized force and we can see how we get on from there!

All the best!

A Tale of Four Gamers Anyone?

Hi!

Following on from my last post, I am thinking of starting up a bit of a group project based on the old Tale of Four Gamers articles from White Dwarf.

If anyone is interested, please feel free to get in touch here and there doesn't need to be four of us!

The rough idea is to set a challenge to build and paint a force a little bit at a time and chronicle our progress as the warband begins to develop into a larger army.

Furthermore, I quite like the idea of developing a background to the force to really give it a character of its own and as a bit of a twist, what about trying to develop a less usual force? Can Warhammer be used in different settings? For example, I've been thinking about putting together a couple of warbands based on the classic Slaine Comics!

Can warhammer work with a setting other than the Warhammer world? Tune in later to find out!

All the best!

Oh The Temptations of Oldhammer!

Hi!

Before I head off to bed for a well earned rest from sculpting on my day off and out to work again tomorrow, I thought I'd have a bit of a rant about the shocking temptation I am finding myself exposed to by perusing lots of Oldhammer blogs!

Take a peek at pretty much any of the links at the side of the page and you will see lost after post of wonderfully painted tiny metal miniatures with lots of truly beautiful armies on parade to tempt me into the madness of collecting and painting an army for Warhammer in 28mm scale. An army that would, even if I ever finished painting it, be most unlikely to ever see use on the tabletop!

Hopefully I will be able to resist the siren call but its proving very difficult, especially as I have been really rather enjoying painting up my Helios Elves!

Now, as much fun as it's been to paint up a selection of 28mm scale stuff, I just don't know how folks have the patience it skill to paint up entire regiments of them! Every time I've tried, its always ended badly with me burning out in the attempt and giving up. And yet here I am, once again swithering about collecting and painting an army! I totally blame it on those inspirational types out there who I've already mentioned!

Will I eventually take the plunge and put together a full army? Well thats the million dollar question I suppose and the answer is, at present at least, I just don't know. As much as I hoot and bellow about the amazingness of 15mm scale, there's nothing quite like the sheer spectacle of a well themed and painted 28mm scale force and if it wasn't for the expense and time involved, I may well have already taken another bash at an army project.

Maybe I need to try out a tale of four gamers approach like those featured in the old White Dwarf magazines and set myself a reasonable challenge without overwhelming myself with tons of lead to paint. Maybe I should just be strong and resist the temptation but I'm not sure I can...

I think I am going to have to think long and hard about the possibilities and see how I get on but any suggestions would be most welcome.

All the best!
