Lockdown 2.0 Day 51: Elven Scout

 Hi!

I happened across an old miniature that I'd bought about 10-15 years ago missing a hand and really dreadfully partly painted that I'd originally intended to form a part of a Wood Elf army that I'd been putting together before I went off to uni and decided that it was high time I tried to give her a decent paint job.

She's Amirith Elmlighter from Reaper miniatures and seems to be under the impression that running around in ones pants is a practical way of fighting bad guys. If I'd had a bit more enthusiasm for the figure, I suspect I'd have reworked her with greenstuff to add some sort of leggings but hey ho.

I stripped the rubbish paint off using nail polish remover and had a go at repainting her. The detail on the figure is super delicate, especially the tiny chains that hold her quiver and sword and I had to replace her bow with some bent wire as I couldn't find the original (ironically I discovered it after I'd painted her as is always the way with these things!). She's possibly not the best of paint jobs but she's now done and dusted and will be partnered up with my Tree Spirit for skirmish gaming and I'm having a rummage to see if I have any more suitable Elven figures to add to the warband.

I must admit that it has been quite pleasing to start really working on depleting my unpainted and poorly painted lead and plastic piles over the last couple of months. I doubt I'll ever get rid of it all but I think it's been great to pick up some random old tat that I've had for years, especially stuff I couldn't even sell when I had my big clearout and have a bit of fun painting them up.

In other news, I've got a bunch of 15mm Dwarves painted up but will post the picture sup tomorrow as I still have a few odds and ends to clean up on them but I'm quite looking forward to trying out some games once my assorted supplies arrive.

I've also got some more fantasy dudes based up and ready to paint and will see what I can get finished over the course of the day. In the meantime, All the best!

  1. Nice! Looking forward to seeing you paint more fantasy minis. I'll need the inspiration whenever the weather starts cooperating so I can prime.
