Lockdown 2.0 Project Day 46: Ork Encounter

 Hi!

I've been plugging away at the old 2nd edition 40k starter set plastics for quite some time now with the vague intention of putting together some random encounters for my alternative Imperium.

I've got a handful of the newer plastic Ork boyz and nobs so there will be several different sizes and style Orks eventually but I like the unified look of them thus far.

I'm pleasantly surprised how satisfying it is to paint up the old plastics as they are surprisingly decent figures considering how old they are and the limitations of plastic tech from the mid 90's.

At present, the intention is to get 6-8 of the original Orks and 10-12 Gretchen as well as a small number of specialists, be they nobs, heavy and special weapons types or whatnot which will allow me to run some fun little scenarios with random numbers of greenskins turning up and causing mischief while the good guys have to achieve their objectives whilst fighting them off.

I'm thinking of putting together some encounter cards ala Warhammer Quest so I can play some objective themed skirmishes and investigation type gaming but I'll need to see how I get on with my current stuff. Speaking of which, I've just had to order some more bases as I've used almost all of the original 40 lipped ones I had from last year!

I'm also due some foamcore to build some more structures and am contemplating putting together a bit of a ruined medieval sprawl...

I'll post some further ponderment tomorrow but in the meantime, All the best!

    1. Many thanks!

Its been rather fun to paint up the plastic stuff and I've got a fair amount of other old stuff lying around that really needs painting!

    1. Make it so! I was put off painting Orks for years as I thought it would be difficult to get the bright finish I wanted but they turned out quite nicely!
